A quieter, less-visited tea country town than Nuwara Eliya or Ella, best known for the panoramic views from Lipton’s Seat, the viewpoint where Sir Thomas Lipton is said to have surveyed his tea empire. The drive up is as much a part of the experience as the summit itself, winding through some of the highest-grown tea estates on the island. It appears in only one of our nine tours, reserved for the itinerary built specifically around hiking and highland immersion, where its quieter pace and less-trodden trails suit the collection’s more active, slower-travel identity. A stop at the nearby Dowa Rock Temple pairs naturally with a Haputale morning.
